laura: a top u.s. diplomat said that because of the war in ukraine united nations is facing a crisis of credibility. because russia has invaded another nation without consequence. what would you say to the idea that the u.n. is facing a crisis of credibility? >> this is not the first time, but it is an important time because it is a question of what do we do? do we come out after ukraine and we hope to see peace in ukraine, better or more fragmented? right now the jury is out. we have got to dig deeper and know that we are better together there we are in a world that is fragmented. the u.n. provides a town hall for every voice to come and be heard at for actions to be taken to resolve some of these crises that are unbelievable, such as the warren ukraine. laura: could the united nations play a role in bringing about peace in ukraine through hosting peace talks? >> absolutely, it's done it in the past. you need to use the good offices of the united nations to call on the secretary-general to say, now is

laura: right. now tomorrow, as we have been reporting, president putin will actually meet president g of china in uzbekistan. what do you think that he will be trying to get from china, economic aid? >> economic aid and probably litary aid as well. not troops. china will under no circumstances send their own troops. as we have been hearing and reading, russia is running short not just of men but of equipment in ukraine. and china could do if it wants to. but so far the chinese have been very cautious about that. any chinese arms that have flown to russia have ne so indirectly through north korea. i think, you know, china would actually like to see the war come to an end. on the other hand, force, beijing really doesn't want to see russia completely defeated, let alone the russian state crippled. would deprive china of an important partner against the united states. laura: if you could, briefly, for how much longer do you think china will be patient with the russian war in ukraine? >> well, china wi
