lisa: do you agree? >> i don't think there's a lot of new information so much it is not a real surprise across the board policy makers have been determined to tame inflation. it think what has become more glaring in particular is this perceived need to capitalize on what is likely to be a leading opportunity to advance some of these more restrictive policies while the labor market remains tight more economic contraction becomes too far entrenched. i think the picture been depicted with this massive recalibration we are seeing is one of a market that finally seems to be paying attention and i think recognizing the chances of a soft landing has greatly diminished. lisa: does that mean you think the time in which this bear market has to run is limited and we will reverse? >> i think it is not wholly surprising in the context of the g10 narrative this week i think at the end of the day, relentless rise in rates that continues to play out again here today, two year having risen close to 65 basis points in cpi

i'm lisa mateo. policymakers at the bank of england have voted to raise its benchmark interest rate by half a percentage point. three of the nine members wanted a 75 basis point hike. they could build up expectations for a bigger rate increase later this year. bloomberg has learned ukraine has seized dozens of tanks left by russian forces fleeing the battlefield. that adds weaponry at a time crane needs it. one person familiar with the matter says around 200 tanks were captured, but there is no word on how many of those were damaged or destroyed. shares of robinhood are surging. brooke has learned the securities and exchange commission will stop short of banning payment for order flow, a major source of revenue for the brokerage. the decision is a win for brokerages that get paid for processing rights. goldman sachs has cut hits 2023 economic growth forecast for china. the firm predicts beijing will stick to its tough covid zero restrictions through at least the first quarter of next year. goldman sa

lisa, when is that address? lisa: 3:33 p.m.. jon: a combination of a huge deficit and some rate hikes could be a positive sterling backdrop. i expect sterling to hit 110 this year. lee sterling joins us right now. what is going on? lee: everything you have been talking about, you can argue it is undervalued gas, you can argue a credit position, yes, that has been true for months. still, we are down to 114 now. my first argument was 115, we hit that. no reason to change the view the trade is downward. with the energy prices, the economy is going into recession. the bank of england told us that a few weeks ago. we have yet to see the package tomorrow. it is going to expand the deficit. it is going to be huge. projections are 170 billion pounds. the whole deficit in 2019 was 50 billion. you are blowing up the deficit. lisa: when do you get concerned about capital outflows? a lack of concern for foreign investors being called upon to fund this effort? lee: you look to the price action over the last couple of months and you can argue

hey, lisa. lisa: we have been talking a lot about companies adapting and adjusting and how they are dealing with the situation they are faced with. it highlights to me how they are doing this. that is cutting jobs at the corporate level. take a look at gas, -- take a look at gap. shares down 4% year-to-date. it just announced it is cutting 500 corporate jobs in new york, in asia. this comes after the partnership with the former kanye west, downgrade with the full forecast in august. how much has this raised retail? then let's take a look at boeing. a manufacturer of planes. they have said they are going to outsource some of their accounting jobs to india. more than 27%, so far years dating. it shows how people are trying to reduce costs in different creative ways like cutting jobs, perhaps outsourcing. they are still hiring some engineers locally. it is a come biz, -- come biz, a housing market has been -- there shares down more than 70% year-to-date. it said it was going to be cutting jobs, par

lisa: the u.s. got a 30% gain in alphasimplex's main bond as a result of selling short funds, something that has not worked for years for it out what point do you on an opposition, thinking the markets got it wrong and underestimating the fed's resolve? katy: what we do is follow trends, and the trends in the markets, particularly in difficult environments, is often a better bastion of information than one individual or anyone particular view. what we see now, which is kind of why i am saying it is surprising, is that the short bond trends are still there. that positioning is still very strong in the data, and we can definitely see, even though rates are reasonable, then becoming more unreasonable in the short term. tom: right. could you correlate short bond, bond price down, yield up, into an equity back on trend? katy: yes. i mean, once we see that things have leveled out, i have always said that this is not an equity story, it is a bond story. was we see that bonds have stabilized and we have a m
