you joining us now is gerry connolly, member of the house oversight committee. congressman, thank you for joining us. let's talk first. >> great to be with. you >> let's talk first about the possibility of the former -- january six committee. if in fact he agrees to abide by this subpoena. do you think the j six committee should be negotiating with them if in fact he wants to do it live? >> it's not uncommon. for congressional intelligence at the issuing -- to negotiate with potential witnesses. on terms and conditions. however, it's also general practice that witnesses first deposed under oath. before he or she may be called to a public session. the january six committee announced last week that the ninth hearing was its last. so, there is no plan for an additional public hearing. obviously, donald trump wants to make this a public spectacle should he consent. but the committee is a very serious committee. it's filled with lawyers, former prosecutors, who know their business. and they want to have him under oath, in a deposition. i do think there is a risk for

joining me now is a member of the house oversight committee, congressman gerry connolly, democratic of virginia. he's been working for five years to fully exposed at the depths of trump's grift. congressman, great to have you. first of all, tell me what you found overall here? >> well, you pointed it out. but, i mean, we know the trump and his family stayed at trump properties hundreds of times during his four years as president. and then, all of those cases, as you are reporting points out, they have been protected by the secret service. they had to stay somewhere. eric trump promised that they would be able to stay free of charge or, its worst, it cost. we now learn that in at least 40 cases we've uncovered, trump's secret service details stated the trump hotel downtown had a cost of 1100 and $85 per night, when the federal rate is $201 per night. so, you've got a five fold markup, highly free, or hardly a cost, as promised by eric trump. so, here we have an egregious case, not only of outright lying, about what in fact they were prepared to do for the secret service, which after all
