good morning, pam. the oakland city council approved two motions at last night's meeting put forward by council member carol fife, who represents district three she's been urging for immediate action to help the 200 people who were recently displaced from the wood street encampment in west oakland. now the city is planning to allow them to temporarily live at the city least lot on beach street, but a long term solution still isn't clear the empty area just across the train tracks from the wood street encampment is one option five is pushing for, but it's part of the old oakland army base and has environmental hazards that need to be addressed. last night, the oakland city council approved fife's motion to seek a waiver from the governor's office and the department of toxic substances control to potentially clean up the area and make it fit for one housed residents to live there. here's what one woman who had lived in an rv at the wood street encampment for years, said yesterday at a protest outside oakl
