well, star wars is like shakespeare in the sense that the references are just baked into our culture in so many ways that we are unconsciously aware of. i think one good example, just for star wars in particular because my whole idea for this book started by interviewing congressmen, senators who happened to be star wars fans and talked about what do you think about star wars as sort of like a guide for morality. and they were like, you know, we need to be wary. the dark side. the dark side, what that even mean? what does mean to be wary of the dark side? but most people are familiar. that little reference, that line the concept of a light and dark star wars is actually very to thank for that shakespeare is baked into almost every of culture tragedy story that we've ever seen on stage or on the tv screen. and so it's really like that star wars is just kind of in the water of our common culture. so there's good and bad, dark and light in the world, and we all get that. yeah. what do we do with that? well, while we do that, we. marcus are different definition of. what the dark side is.

some of them have the talent to do shakespeare plays. but they were forced to do made roles. and many of them have never been written about. and i say it to myself, even though they're gone, maybe they got a nephew, a great nephew, a great-niece, somebody out there who knows about their family member who acted in movies back in the 40s and 50s and damn, now that name is written in this book. it's there. they've been honored. in some way. there's a great ommoment in the book and there's a great moment to me. lena horne, beautiful actress. could ywsing, could act, hollywood didn't know what to do with her. she kept getting invited to play maids. so her father finally flew out to hollywood and asked to see one of the studio chiefs and her father said look, if my daughter needs a maid i will hire one for her but she's not goingto play a made on-screen . what a beautiful little story. i mean, he gets on a plane and insists on seeing the studio chief and says i've got money, a lot of money and my daughter needs a maid i'll hire one for her. but she sure as sack is not going to play
