business kate rooney joins us how does this -- so many questions, but first, how does the deal impact the rest of the crypto industry right now? how much of the crypto industry is this? >> it's a big portion. for one, this creates this massive global exchange. binance and ftx are two of the biggest exchanges out there. this is a deal to buy ftx.com, which is essentially sam bankman-fried's international side of the business it makes up 95% of the parent company's revenue based on financials we've seen. the u.s. business is a tiny portion of what it actually brings in. so if you combine binance and ftx it makes for a big player in this market and begs the quesf who is the lender of last resort if not sam bankman-fried? we've seen him do deals bailing out other companies, he's now on the other side of this and he's in the position to be bailed out himself by one of his biggest competitors. >> so what happens to all of those companies? what happens to all the sports endorsement deals? the name was on the miami heat stadium. >> ftx arena in miami, absolutely the ripple effects are still p

kate rooney joins us now with more kate >> hi, contessa. that's right genesis and its parent company are now the big risks crypto investors are worried about after the fall of ftx. this was the first lending desk, started about a decade ago genesis suspended withdrawals last week and is reportedly considering bankruptcy at this point. the company saying that isn't imminent and that it's having constructive conversations right now with creditors its loan back had been around $14 billion earlier this year. if you look at the second quarter there it had roughly a billion dollars of exposure to the now bankrupt hedge fund 3 eras capital also about $175 million right now locked up at ftx its loan book was just under $3 billion as of the most recent quarter you can see on that chart there. there are also some potential effects around its parent company, digital currency group, or also known as dcg the ceo of that company barry silbert in a letter last night trying to really calm shareholders he said, "we have weathered previous crypto winters," a

kate rooney joins us live from the bahamas. kate >> reporter: hey there, scott. i spoke briefly to sam prankman fr -- bankman fried, he says his's still trying to broker a bailout. he declined to talk about the details, and he will no longer talk about it on the record. he is hunkered down in the upscale bahamas neighborhood about 30 minutes from here he did tell me there's billions of potential funds out there to make customers whole he said he hates what happens and wishes he had been more careful. he also maintains there are still billions in customer assets that are still available, despite not having access to his corporate e-mail or any of the ftx systems right now. to be clear, guys, thinks still a long shot. legal experts say he would be no different than any other third-party bidder, but legal experts are telling me him being part of the solution may hef in civil or criminal court. no response from him, but the new ceo john ray saying he is also exploring sale options. you can already see some of the starks differences, a lit-up ftx sign that was here in

rooney kate, it is a developing story and it is confusing at times a lot of odd lingo and terminology. >> absolutely, brian we'll try to break it down there's a lot of moving parts here the big story in the headline is that binance is planning to buy ftx.com. this is the international side of sam begman freed's crypto empire it's separate from ftx u.s and that international part of the business is a huge bulk of revenue for ftx trading, the parent company 95% of revenue comes from the international side, as of the first quarter of this year, according to its audited financials that we reported on a bit earlier this year. the deal hasn't closed yet binance's ceo saying they still need to do due diligence he says this was sparked by a liquidate crunch at ftx, which you could argue, brian, in part, because sparked by the binance ceo in some of his recent tweets binance was an early investor in ftx, but it sold all of its equity in ftx's last round and was part of that payout, it got a cryptocurrency called ftt. that is created and really tied and linked to ftx. cz. tweeting that the comp

rooney filed the report >> the crypto lender blockfi filed for bankruptcy in new jersey it was one of the handful of firms that was supposed to be bailed out by ftx which is going through its own high profile bankruptcy we did get more bankruptcy paper work where blockfi was faced with severe liquidity crunch with the unprecedented collapse of ftx they go on to say ftx's apparent rescue in summer of 2022 stabilized blockfi, but that was short lived and over the past few years exacerbated instead of cured the ailments it has substantial exposure to ftx. it will allow blockfi to maximize value they can deliver to clients at this point the trouble started in early summer with the hedge fund implosion. the line of credit back in june increased to $400 million in july when ftx agreed to buy the company. it had the option to buy the company as ftx went under, blockfi had to halt customer withdraws. in the filing, it has more than 100,000 creditors and liabilities and assets stand between $1 billion and $10 billion. >> crypto winter continues. >>> coming up on "street signs." we follow the a

thanks, guys >>> let's get to kate rooney on the news we brought you a few moments ago. do we have her now hey, kate. >> hey, carl, that's right blockfi filing for bankruptcy as a result of what is happening with ftx this company was closely linked to ftx and was one of the companies that agreed to a brai bailout earlier this year. ftx had the option to buy blockfi. that not happening as ftx goes through its own bankruptcy ftx filing for chapter 11 this morning. couple nuggets from the filing it looks like two of the biggest creditors, an ftx subsidiary, they're on the hook for $275 million. let's see, assets and liabilities, as well, listed between $1 billion and $10 billion. this company, you know, had been on the brink earlier this year it's one of now three or four companies. you have voyager, celsius, three eras capital that went down as a result of what happened in the spring andare closely tied to ftx. the latest collateral damage we're seeing, carl. >> kate, do we yet know, and maybe we do and i just don't know, but do we yet know how many other companies ahead o

the company posting a smaller loss than expected kate rooney has more on the quarter. >> wall street is liking the cost discipline coming out of robinhood. that's boosting the stock hereafter hours. it's still losing money. the losses are narrowing lower to operating expenses and the operating expense forecast for the full year. it's profit bable if you look a the adjusted ebitda bases which the ceo said it came a quarter ahead of structure rising rates are helping with that mission net interest income jumped 73% sequentially on the call, executives say they expect that line item to rise by 25 million in q4 it made up 35% of revenue at robinhood in the third quarter transaction based revenue makes up more than half of income and the cfo saying rates are helping. he said on the other hand though, it does tend to be a drag on markets. sort of a catch 22 i asked about m&a. he's more excited about robinhood being the acquirer i said they're being patient on deals but see opportunity out there to do some m&a and despite the optimism, robinhood still did lose more than a million monthly ac
