This circa 1927 Felix the Cat cartoon was created as an advertisement for Edison Mazda Headlamps! It's actually a pretty good cartoon about Felix's troubles trying to marry his sweetheart. My guess at the year is based on something in the cartoon itself. A salesman checks a lists of parts for Felix's car. It turns out Felix is driving a '27 "Noiseless Six." This copy has public domain music and sound effects added.

Felix has numerous adventures with things that go bump in the night. This 1928 short was acquired by Educational Film Exchange which added primitive sound for the home movie and TV release in the 1950s. This copy has public domain music and sound effects. The music includes "Ghost Dance," an unusual guitar duet by Truett and George from 1927. There is a terrific version of this short available on the "Cartoon Roots" blu-ray from Tom Stathes' Cartoons on Film with original...

" Skulls and Sculls" is a 1929 Felix the Cat cartoon, directed by Otto Messmer, produced by Pat Sullivan and distributed by Copley Pictures Corporation. The cartoon begins much like the Fleischer cartoon, "Bimbo's Initiation," with Felix being pursued by supernatural beings (the "skulls" of the title). The second half involves a college boat race (the "sculls" of the title). The post-production sound was added by Jacques Kopfstein for Copley Pictures.

This Felix the Cat cartoon doesn't have much of a plot but rather is a series of random adventures starring our hero and a fox. It's a silent cartoon that had crude sound added after the fact by distributor Jacques Kopfstein. This cartoon looks to have been made earlier than 1929. It's no wonder that Disney and Fleischer made serious inroads into Felix's popularity.

Felix gets himself kicked across the world to wind up in Japan where he introduces chairs (!) to the populace. This is one of the 15 silent Felixes that had music and sound effects post-synchronized by distributor Jacques Kopfstein for Bijou pictures. It features stylized, Japanese-inflected graphics and the usual bizarre-though-logical transformations of most Felixes of this period.

Felix in Hollywood is a silent, black and white cartoon from 1923, animated by Otto Messmer, produced by Pat Sullivan, and distributed by early Disney distributor, Margaret J. Winkler. (The lady had taste!) It's somwhat famous for its depiction of silent film personalities of the day such as Douglas Fairbanks, Willian S. Hart, Gloria Swanson, C.B. De Mille and others. This copy uses the music added to many public domain releases plus a few sound effects.

Another Felix the Cat silent cartoon with a fairly crude soundtrack added by distributor, Jacques Kopfstein. Candidate Felix promises the cats of earth a better life on Mars. (At least, that's how I decipher the plot!) It's stated on various websites that this cartoon was originally titled "Astromeows," probably a more sensible title, but I've never seen a print with that name. Perhaps that was the title of the silent version which got slightly scrambled when sound was added.

Felix and his nephews/nieces (?) sons/daughters (?) decide to make their own movies. Hilarity (or a mild form of amusement) ensues. The primitive sound in this 1927 cartoon was probably added by Official Films in 1953 when they acquired the home movie and TV rights from Educational Film Exchange.

"Mysterious Mose" sung by Ann Little, one of the several original voices of Betty Boop who dubbed herself the original voice of Betty Boop. (The original voice of Betty was Margie Hines a Long Island girl who lived in Brooklyn). Ann often played Betty on the radio and most of the time in person. Ann would make public appearances as the character from the 1930s-1940s. Lyrics: There's a man of mystery that's roaming through the land. Ooh-Ooh-Ooh-Ooh-Ooh! Far and near you hear of him,...

A Betty Boop Cartoon. Please no bad reviews or generalized negativity or hate speech. If you must engage in this activity , please seek out your nearest urgent care center, see a psychiatrist , follow doctors orders take laxatives with your sleep meds and clean up the humongous mess in the morning. You are all alone , the neighbors will smell the mess. Make sure you change your mattress, because , mine times out of ten you will poop the bed. You can certainly avoid this by not complaining....

This Item came from very low budget home movie distributor Atlas Films which handled only one reel and 50 foot headline editions, To the best of my knowledge ALL of Atlas Films offerings were silent. I have never seen of or heard of an Atlas Film that had a soundtrack. To the best of my knowledge Atlas films issued only two silent two reelers one was a truncated bootleg version of Laurel and Hardy in "Criminals At Large ( obviously copied from the old Film Classic Exchange Print) which...

In 1942, Paramount forced out feuding brothers Max and Dave Fleischer from their cartoon studio and re-christened it "Famous Studios." Famous continued to make the popular Popeye, Superman and other cartoons begun by the Fleischers and in 1947, they decided to revive the sing-along Screen Song format. The series officially relaunched with "The Circus Comes to Clown," after five similar "bouncing ball" cartoons were made under the Noveltoon banner in the intervening...

But during that almost ten year period, a few "proto-Screen Songs" were released reviving and refining the formula. Among these was "Old MacDonald Had A Farm," officially a Noveltoon. I think it has all of the elements of a "Screen Song," except for the ear worm...
