(c)1996 Sparrow Records
The 1990s had seen a lot of changes for Twila Paris over her career, as starting with the last album of hers that I uploaded, 1990's "Cry for the Desert", she had begun taking a more pop-oriented sound while maintaining her long string of worship-oriented songs; culminating in her previous album, 1993's "Beyond a Dream", which saw Twila record what probably was her first (and only) real rocker in "God is in Control" (if and when I get a copy of this, I'll go into more details here).
Fast forward to 1996; and by this time Twila was transferred from longtime label StarSong to sister label Sparrow Records for "Where I Stand", which continued the string of more uptempo releases but retained other familiar touches (at least one song that could get used for church services, for instances); with the album reaching #87 on Billboard's Top 200 albums (something that had never been accomplished by her before) as well as reaching #3 on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart
As usual; Twila was involved in writing all of the songs, though unlike most of her records she had some assistance on one track (more on that later)
TRACKLIST
1. Love's Been Following You (#26 on the CCM adult contemporary charts for 1996)
2. Hold On
3. Band of Survivors (this track was used in the 1998 movie "Apocalypse"; the first of a series of 4 direct-to-video end-times films produced by Canadian Christian film production company Cloud Ten Pictures between 1998-2001 that could best be described as a thinly-veiled knockoff of the "Left Behind" novels before Cloud Ten abandoned their in-house series {with a fifth film never being produced} to produce the original 2000-05 "Left Behind" movies with Kirk Cameron)
4. Faithful Friend (duet with Steven Curtis Chapman; who also co-wrote the song with Twila. Peaked at #4 on the CCM adult contemporary charts and at #22 on the CCM contemporary hit radio charts)
5. Jesus in You (peaked at #13 on the CCM AC charts for 1997)
6. Honor and Praise (one that worked well for church service use)
7. (I Am) Not Afraid Anymore (peaked at #1 on the CCM AC charts in 1996)
8. What Did He Die For (song that weaves in parallels between soldiers who fought and died for America with Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross)
9. House of Cards
10. I Never Get Used to What You Do
11. I Will Listen
