4to. pp. (12), 120; pp. 198, (12), (1 integral blank). Slightly later cartonnato. “Alla Rev.... Abadessa, e Rde. Monache del Redentor di Verona”. Sole edition. With a contemporary presentation inscription, “Alla Rev[erendissime] Abadessa, e R[everen]de. Monache del Redentor di Verona” on title page, perhaps in the author’s own hand. From 1718-1722 the architect Lodovico Perini executed renovations on the ancient Convent of S. Silvestro. The present work is a remarkably thorough antiquarian study, replete with appendices of supporting documents, chronicling the history of the convent and its nuns. The original structures dates from the mid-12th century; Perini was responsible for the iconic building still visible today, though the convent was suppressed and the nuns dispersed during the Napoleonic invasion in 1806
