Back in the early 2000s, a game called Kingdom Hearts was released that combined anime-esque Square Enix characters with characters from Disney's back cataloge of IPs. Since then, it has proven to be a massive success that carries a large fanbase with it.
However, what most people don't know is that Disney Television Animation was planning on making an animated series that was going to air on either the Disney Channel or Jetix. From there, they tasked a team of people to create an 11-minute pilot for the series that would pitch the show to a target demographic of 6-11 year olds.
But even though the animatic tested well with kids who liked the concept, Disney executives weren't so sure about the costs of re-using both animation cels from their past films and the voice actors for Donald and Goofy, both of whom were expensive to utilize. Some execs were even concerned about the concept of two of their most popular characters squaring off against monsters, and so the concept was put to an end.
Earlier today, one of the men who worked on the project, Seth Kearsley, uploaded his copy of the pilot onto YouTube, thus turning a piece of lost media into one that can be easily viewed on the internet.
I don't own the footage shown here. All rights belong to Square Enix and The Walt Disney Company. I'm only uploading this video for the sake of preservation.
