A few people decided to stay on the Capitol steps instead of going back to the camp at Solidarity Square (Reutter Park) so I decided to stay with them. That was one of the ideas that drew me to Occupy Lansing early in October while discussing what we would do on Facebook. Many people are fine with staying in Solidarity Square but I felt it would send a more powerful message if we stayed on the steps of the Capitol Building as long as possible. I was there for 3 days and 2 nights and a few dozen people came and went but no one else really stayed for more than a few hours at a time. The group that stayed there after the rally, Sat. the 15th, thought they were going to get kicked off at 11pm, but the rule was if you had a tent setup on the lawn it had to be taken down at 11pm and could only be put up after 7am. Also we were told we could not sleep on the Capitol property, but I had a few power naps while sitting on the steps for those 3 days and was told several different versions of that rule by different people, most of them state police who guard the Capitol at night.cc
