"How do we know that this material is really public domain?

All available titles have been researched with the U.S. Library of Congress and are public domain. As an international distributor, we could not sell them to you if they were not."

Unless I miss my guess, 'Charade' with Cary & Audrey was pulled from the jaws of pd similar to 'It's A Wonderful Life' by an underlying reason. Guess who is offering this movie?

Thanks, FJ & OB.

OB, By WWIII I assume you mean Warren Spawn of the Devil Williams.

Re "Missile to the Moon" and "Bride of the Monster," I'll wait a few days, and if nobody yells stop, I'll upload 'em.

OB, remember chocolate.

I can't find it, but I remember a thread from a while ago...a discussion about WWIII, his money and attitude. You might want to see if you can dig it out and go over it. Probably entertaining if nothing else.

Hate to piss in your cheerios, but I'm afraid all the WW666 films are legitimately copyrighted, the British films are all GATTED, and those that were registered and renewed are, well, registered and renewed. Since the phone number on their website doesn't work and clicking on their URL set off my firewall, that website is probably a ghost of a long defunct company that carried these films back when they WERE PD. Anybody in LA wanna swing by 11400 West Olympic Boulevard and see if they're till there? It's south LA, so go in the daytime, don't go alone, and pack some heat!

Actually, I just called that number, and a guy named "Dean" answered, and agreed that it is also the number for the RFV.

For what it's worth.

Oddly, their catalogue has collections of trailers called "Blockbusters," sorted by decade. They list 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's Blockbusters, but nothing since. Wonder why? As for the phone, I got the message that the number "wasn't available at this time." I get the same message when I call a buddy of mine with a cell phone that's turned off. Maybe I'm behind on such things, but I distrust businesses that don't have a land line. Am I paranoid or just senile?

Well, I'm not senile yet, these fellows are SLEAZY! I checked just the FIRST PAGE of RFV’s Science Fiction section and found these listed as PD: Abraxus-Guardian of the Universe and The Arrival (Which have Automatic copyright due to their release dates), Fantastic Planet (Which got GATTed), Creature, Invasion from Inner Earth and Journey to the Center of Time (All have valid copyright notices), and Invasion of the Star Creatures, Battle of the Worlds and King of Kong Island (Which were removed from the Archive due to copyright violations). These people are THIEVES, plain and simple, and NOTHING they list should be trusted without verification. Wonder if WW666 owns the company?

Yeah, but are you absolutely sure "Gone With the Wind" isn't PD?

Thanks, guys. It's been an informative and amusing thread.

Thank you, anonymous poster on an internet forum message board, for pointing out that a business that did not answer a phone number you may have mis-dialed is obviously criminal.

It's surprising they did not just name themselves something that would make it easy to tell their true intentions. A name with crime or theft in it. Then we could be sure they were up to something.
Thanks again Skyband... HEY!

Ha! Ha! Ha! Thanks.

Any thoughts on BRIDE OF THE MONSTER and MISSILE TO THE MOON?

BRIDE OF THE MONSTER wasn't released until WW666 paid for the only copy which had been sitting in a film lab for nearly 20 years because Ed never paid them for developing his film, so he really, truly OWNS that film. Missile to the Moon isn't on Video Cellar's list of films illegally claimed by WW666 (unlike CAT WOMEN OF THE MOON, which MISSILE is a remake of) so it looks like they've both gone to hell, sorry.
