Howdy, BNR

The item in question is exit (beta) (JavaScript).

As to the Spurstowe's question, that's the crux of it, isn't it? Unuseability (for the non-nerd). The Archive is a wonderful resource, but becoming, by the day, more of, by, and for the nerd. It's a priesthood; I get that. But the priesthood's cloistered myopia results in a shrinking flock.

Regards,
Bat

Gosh, thanks again Mr Moonbat. I have been attempting to set this up for others to use but failed. I hope it helps you, Spurstowe. Are you any relation to Splue? As far as the situation on this site, I see similar problems in several businesses I have contact with. My condolences to those who see what could be but are not empowered to help it materialize.

Any time, Brother B, and by the way, I wouldn't say "smarter," but "obsessed?" Absolutely.

Moonbat,

Good point about the priesthood. Try working on automobiles after 2012, same shit ... different name. Concentrate on eye-candy and forget about useability or maintenance. Someday there may be a computer hell reserved for people who create this crap.

Sad but true. Great line.

Micah, Good point, but I am confident that natural forces will always work against such ill-designed and thought schemes in the long-run. In nature, there always is a good balance between what looks good and how well something functions. Functionality and optimization always trump good looks and eye-candy in the long-run. The time wasted on making the Beta interface look good to the eyes of people who have 30 second attention spans is sad, when those resources could have been used to optimize the utilization of the site. In particular, more resources should have been allocated to optimizing the uploading of items of all types to the Archive ... after all 'Our' uploaded items are probably of much more importance than rolling pages and funky new looks. What good would those looks be without 'Our' Items? Gerry

micah6vs8; A couple years ago I found a post of yours somewhere in the InterTubes on converting mono to stereo, which proved very helpful to a hearing-impaired family member for whom I did said conversions. Thanks for that.
