I recall that Video-Cellar once posted a response letter to those that issue a questionable Cease and Desist order to the Archive. I used it two or three times, and the challenge worked for the first two. Unfortunately, that information vanished with many other older posts…

There are registrations like this:

The Honeymooners, the lost episodes : [episode ti.], Stars over Flatbush /... Relevance:
Type of Work: Motion Picture
Registration Number / Date: PA0000324557 / 1987-04-30
Title: The Honeymooners, the lost episodes : [episode ti.], Stars over Flatbush / producer, Jack Hurdle ; director, Frank Satenstein.
Imprint: [S.l.] : J. Gleason, c1985.
Description: 1 videocassette : sd., b&w ; 3/4 in.
Copyright Claimant: Jackie Gleason
Date of Creation: 1955
Date of Publication: 1985-01-29
Authorship on Application: Jackie Gleason Enterprises, Inc., employer for hire.

Other Title: Stars over Flatbush
Names: Hurdle, Jack
Satenstein, Frank
Gleason, Jackie
Jackie Gleason Enterprises, Inc.

Note the date of creation: 1955.

I'm not sure this is a valid copyright. This Honeymooners "episode" is merely a portion of a Jackie Gleason Show that was broadcast in 1955. If the complete show is in the public domain, why wouldn't a portion of it be in the public domain?

The "lost" Honeymooners stories that I uploaded were from DVD, not tape. I removed the title screens at the beginnings and the added transitions between scenes. So I thought that what remained would be p.d.

The date is a dead giveaway. It all looks PD, though kudos for trying to meet them halfway.
