Just got a "takedown" notice |
I was just informed that one of my drive-in uploads. "Giant from the Unknown/ Frankenstein's Daughter" had been removed due to a copyright claim by Wade Williams.. I'm not too bent out of shape over it (and from looking at the numbers, neither is anyone else) but it does seem strange because both films appear individually all over this site by various uploaders. OK, I know that the Archive doesn't really have any copyright experts on staff (they've said as much, numerous times) and we've had many discussions here in the forum about whether Williams has real ownership of anything. My question is on this drive-in show is, which one of these movies does Williams think he owns, one, the other, or both? I have no bad feelings about this, but I do feel that this is very strange.
Ok, I just did a quick search and it appears "Giant" might be our culprit because it doesn't appear as much as it did when I originally made this damn thing. For the most part, I made these drive-in shows by downloading what was already here anyway. Oh, well, one down, 31 left.

Yeah, that was nuts. The files I used to make mine were all taken from stuff that's here in feature films. If it was from community video, I didn't bother with it. Hey, 1 out of 32, no big deal.
