Compressed files with .gz extension are downloaded as uncompressed files.

Example:
ml-archive-1995.gz (370 k) downloads as 1,49 MB(!) _uncompressed_ ml-archive-1995.gz.

This affects probably all *.gz files (ex. *.tar.gz).
