Thanks for the explanation! My editing software says that PAL standard is 720x576 and NTSC standard 720x480. If I want to make a movie where my own stuff in PAL standard is mashed up with clips from a Jam Handy movie, I'll have to do something about the different proportions. - Eva

Hmmmm....Just one final note. I told my Vegas NLE I wanted to produce a PAL video. Vegas said fine, the dafault frame size for your project is 720X480. I then told Vegas to render the PAL project. Vegas said the final render would be at 720X576. I have decided I am just not destined to understand PAL video. I also noticed Wikipedia said PAL is the better system, so now I am not only confused but a little miffed at NTSC...... Thanks! If I export a mashup like the one mentioned in PAL 720x576 there'll be a quality loss in the Jam Handy clip, but a quality loss in my PAL stuff if I export the mashup in NTSC 720x480. It's easier to use "the other" clip for effects where proportions don't matter so much.

OK, I am getting more confused as we go along. I went to the PAL settings on my computer and it shows a frame render size of 720X480. In desperation I went to Wikipedia. Here is a link to what I found:
