THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY is NOT in the public domain. MGM/UA has the US rights to it.

Maybe you mixed it up with this film:
The Good, the Bad and the Beautiful (1975)
I don't know anything about it, but its listed on film chest, but i don't think it's on here yet.

I dunno. I bought a copy on a dollar DVD, and although that's not proof of PD, it seems to be an indicator.

That is a pretty good indicator. You're right. But that film is at least a semi-classic. Why would the producers let the copyright lapse? Oh, well, stranger things have happened. Still, unless I were absolutely sure of it's status, I would be reluctant to post it.

I wrote a review about deleting the item, because I took it for granted that this movie is in copyright. But I may be wrong, and should of course have checked first.
