Re: Drive-In clips removed due to copyright claim |
The "i" symbol you refer to only means that I failed to click the "movie" button when the item was posted. Getting back to the issue of the original post, if Screen Attractions owns these clips, then I agree they should be taken down. My only intention was to add to the creative process of making home made dvds, I didn't mean to steal anyone else's property. I hope I didn't create a big mess by putting up these files. I thought they were PD, and if there was a way to check and see if they were, I would have done so. This could be why this section was so vacant when I started. Again, if there was any wrongdoing, I'm sorry.

Re: Drive-In clips removed due to copyright claim |
Thank you, I appreciate your concern.
I will go through the remaining items and copy you the time codes of the footage that is ours, so you can make any other videos you want without them.
The Internet Archive will undoubtedly delete the others.
Thanks again.

Re: Drive-In clips removed due to copyright claim |
Gotcha. I know you meant no violation or harm, and I never saw the SWV logo on anything here. Heck, if these things get used at all, it's for homebodies and shut-ins like me, trying to relive our youth a bit. I'm thinking of taking the missus to a drive-in for our anniversary, to remember the old days, even though we'll have to drive over 100 miles round-trip to get to a REAL drive-in.

Re: Drive-In clips removed due to copyright claim |
Are there any drive-ins left? I thought they all went the way of newsreels and chapterplays. Of course as as long as there are guys like us who remember them, it will never truly die.

There's still one in Auburn, WA, about 30 miles south of Seattle, if you happen to be driving that way :)

Re: Drive-In clips removed due to copyright claim |
There are 3 or 4 in our whole state, but only 2 are the "classic" style, single screen drive-ins. The other two are of the "pie slice" layout style, with 6 or 8 screens arranged in a big circle and the projection booth/concession stand in the middle. They turn into swap meets on the weekend. I won't even waste my time going to one of those drive-ins.

Re: Drive-In clips removed due to copyright claim |
The (2) San Francisco drive-Ins are long gone, as are the ones south of SF on the Peninsula.
One of them was near Hi-Way 101 and cars heading north could catch a brief glimpse of the screen from an angle, for a few yards or thereabouts...
My Mom remembers nearly losing control of the steering wheel as she looked over at the screen right at the moment in PSYCHO when Arbogast (the private eye played by Martin Balsam) is stabbed and stabbed again.
Perhaps relatively tame now but in 1960 it was the first time anything that graphic was shown in a major motion picture.
Perhaps the trailer (and that scene with the screeching violins) for Psycho is not yet in the public domain or ever will be, but it is indelibly imprinted on the public consciousness.

Re: Drive-In clips removed due to copyright claim |
Probably the most powerful drive-in experience I can recall is the first time I saw the original Night of the Living Dead, I guess it was 1967 or 68. I was a teenager at the time, but it still scared the ever-lovin' crap outta me.
