haha, the ones with no mustache probably couldn't grow facial hair. i'm sure the non-mustached didn't garner much respect amongst teammates.
never read that book you mention but it sounds like a fun read. if you ever get off your lazy keister and decide to read it, let me know if it's worth the time.

There is actually 2 teams pictured together in this 1886 opening day photo. The left side with the gray hats are the Boston Beaneaters, and the right side players in white are the NY Giants.
The player to the right of the guy in the top hat is John Montgomery (Monte) Ward, the last National League pitcher to throw a perfect game prior to Jim Bunning in 1964 (Ward in 1880).
