The way I'm reading your responses, you're saying to pay someone to download the content from a site like this one (in Cinepack/etc format), convert it to DVD and then send that to me. Is that correct? If so, that is ignoring my original question.
My question is about obtaining the material pre-cinepack/avi, pre-ogg, pre-mp4. How do I obtain THAT version of desired videos?
To give you an example, let's say that I want a copy of "It's A Wonderful Life" and I want to be able to convert that to an avi or mkv or something and upload that to a site. Unless I'm missing my guess, I can't just buy the movie on DVD and do that because there's bound to be something that was done to make that version of the work copyrighted again (colorized or some other alteration to make it an 'original' work). I'd want a version of that movie that is guaranteed to be copyright free.
So how would I go about doing THAT? If I wanted a video from this site to play on a DVD, I'd just download the video and then convert it to DVD myself. So it would be pointless for me to pay someone else to do it for me. (The "It's A Wonderful Life" reference is merely an example for my point.)
