Re: Sound Home Movies? |
Sound home movies would be a real find!
When I was a kid, everybody's dad had 16mm or standard 8mm gear, with nary a sound recorder in sight. Most home users wouldn't bother with the hassle and expense of sound, which involved outboard equipment for recording, and usually for playback, unless one had the resources to prepare an optically or magnetically striped print. The back pages of magazines & catalogs were filled with solutions that involved methods to sync reel-to-reel recorders, and later cassette players, to provide sound. They barely worked and were very cumbersome. Not until Super 8mm sound cameras became common did many families produce sound home movies.
