Forum: feature_films Subject: royalty fees for music in PD TV shows?

Follow up to my previous posts... I'm trying to find copyright info for Dick van Dyke show PD episodes. Some dvd's I have already have generic music in place of the original theme, and others i have with the original theme song. Can't find any copyright info for the music, but I'm presuming royalties have been paid for the theme song. Anybody know how much royalties one would pay for offering a PD episode with the original song? Thanks in advance.

If there are royalties to be paid, then it's not public domain, and thus not suitable for upload to the Archive, I think. If you have doubts about the copyright status of a theme song, I recommend just muting the credits portion of the file.

Besides The Dick Van Dyke Show, it would be nice if public domain episodes of Petticoat Junction, The Andy Griffith Show, Love That Bob, and other 30 minute sit-coms were freely available for download.
