This part focuses on the attempts by the Northwest Confederation and Tecumseh to stop the flood of settlers encroaching on Indian land. This last pan-Indian resistance of this scale ended in failure. This resistance and others coincided with the War of 1812, which put Andrew Jackson on the road to the presidency. That, in turn, led to the Indian Removal Act of 1830. he rapid land-grab by the United States caused deep divisions among Native American groups. The Treaty of Dolores Hidalgo with Mexico, plus the many treaties made and often broken with Native Americans, left many Native Americans destitute. Added to that was incredible corruption by some Indian agents and supply contractors. This led to the uprising of Sioux people in Minnesota in 1862.
