The mole is tending his flowers, sharing them with various insects, when to his horror he discovers a set of stakes being used to mark the path of a road to be built right through his domain. At first he tries to reason with the huge bulldozer that proceeds along this track, but when that fails he digs a trench into which the machine falls. While it is helpless, the mole stakes out another route, neatly curving it around his garden and thus saving it from destruction.
