Translated from Spanish "Hunting F18 Hornet to scale This is a small project, something simple that it did and turned out to be a combat model F / A-18 Hornet very easy to print. The F / A-18 Hornet is a fourth generation multi-purpose fighter of American origin with the ability to be shipped on aircraft carriers. It was developed in the 1970s by the McDonnell Douglas company. It was developed from the Northrop YF-17 prototype for the Navy and Marine Corps of the United States. The Hornet...

*Description*: The sharpest view of Mars ever taken from Earth was obtained by the recently refurbished NASA Hubble Space Telescope (HST). This stunning portrait was taken with the HST Wide Field Planetary Camera-2 (WFPC2) on March 10, 1997, just before Mars opposition, when the red planet made one of its closest passes to the Earth (about 60 million miles or 100 million km). At this distance, a single picture element (pixel) in WFPC2's Planetary Camera spans 13 miles (22 km) on the Martian...

*Description*: This NASA Hubble Space Telescope view of the planet Mars is the clearest picture ever taken from Earth, surpassed only by close-up shots sent back by visiting space probes. The picture was taken on February 25, 1995, when Mars was at a distance of approximately 65 million miles (103 million km) from Earth. Because it is spring in Mars' northern hemisphere, much of the carbon dioxide frost around the permanent water-ice cap has sublimated, and the cap has receded to its core of...

" I'm Not in Love " is a song by English group 10cc , written by band members Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman . It is notable for its innovative and distinctive backing track, composed mostly of the band's multitracked vocals. Released in the UK in May 1975 as the second single from the band's third album The Original Soundtrack , it became the second of the group's three number-one singles in the UK between 1973 and 1978, topping the UK singles chart for two weeks. The song was also...

The Luminous Blue Variable (LBV) R71 is currently undergoing an eruption, which differs photometrically and spectroscopically from its last outburst in the 1970s. Valuable information on the physics of LBV eruptions can be gained by analyzing the spectral evolution during this eruption and by comparing R71's present appearance to its previous outburst and its quiescent state. Here we present the first spectra of an ongoing monitoring program with VLT/X-shooter and compare them to archival...

The study of extremal problems on triangle areas was initiated in a series of papers by Erd\H{o}s and Purdy in the early 1970s. In this paper we present new results on such problems, concerning the number of triangles of the same area that are spanned by finite point sets in the plane and in 3-space, and the number of distinct areas determined by the triangles. In the plane, our main result is an $O(n^{44/19}) =O(n^{2.3158})$ upper bound on the number of unit-area triangles spanned by $n$...

This article is from F1000Research , volume 2 . Abstract The asserted dominant role of the kidneys in the chronic regulation of blood pressure and in the etiology of hypertension has been debated since the 1970s. At the center of the theory is the observation that the acute relationships between arterial pressure and urine production—the acute pressure-diuresis and pressure-natriuresis curves—physiologically adapt to perturbations in pressure and/or changes in the rate of salt and volume...

Tonic immobility (TI) has been studied in animal literature for three centuries. It is considered an evolucional, reflexive response that causes motor inhibition in the face of inescapable danger, i.e., impossibility to escape an attack by a predator. Two components are involved in TI: extreme fear and entrapment. TI is a last defensive resource to escape danger after all other attempts (e.g., fighting or fleeing) have failed. Thus, the behavior of complete immobility associated with TI may...

This article is from Malaria Journal , volume 10 . Abstract Background: In the Solomon Islands, the Malaria Eradication Programmes of the 1970s virtually eliminated the malaria vectors: Anopheles punctulatus and Anopheles koliensis, both late night biting, endophagic species. However, the vector, Anopheles farauti, changed its behaviour to bite early in the evening outdoors. Thus, An. farauti mosquitoes were able to avoid insecticide exposure and still maintain transmission. Thirty years on and...

We have constructed and operated the Survey for Transient Astronomical Radio Emission (STARE) to detect transient astronomical radio emission at 611 MHz originating from the sky over the northeastern United States. The system is sensitive to transient events on timescales of 0.125 s to a few minutes, with a typical zenith flux density detection threshold of approximately 27 kJy. During 18 months of around-the-clock observing with three geographically separated instruments, we detected a total...

The world's greatest documentary game show returns with host Johnny St. John and an array of doc-world celebrities attempting to deduce if local videos are true or false. After plastic surgery and a name change, Gotsick re-emerged a better man and has mostly put his questionable past behind him. German immigrants consistently accounted for the largest number of foreign-born people in Iowa from the 1850s through the 1970s. While today we focus on recent immigrants from Latin America and Southeast Asia, our state remains deeply impacted by an earlier group of newcomers. This lecture presents the efforts of H. Glenn Penny in teaching his students about Germany, and in turn the Professor learned about Iowa and it's history. Through the Iowa/Germany case study we can see that it is not only...

The sorted and extensive activities of anti-American propaganda during the campaign of resisting the United States and assisting Korea created a fixed image for the ordinary Chinese that the United States was a vicious imperialist enemy. Such image continued till the 1970s. Then the Sino-American rapprochement and...
