We talk about going to the damn doctor. Jessie discusses how she has gained her confidence in doctors' offices, Maureen expresses her trepidation about her upcoming doctor's appointment, and Makeda dives into how frustrating that damn number on the scale can be. We talk about coping mechanisms, language you can use in a doctor's office, how fat shaming DOESN'T WORK, and more. It's a great conversation, check it out.

Janet Kuypers performed an impromptu feature at "the Cafe" in Chicago 10/20/09, by reading her short story "crazy". With props of a blanket (for making a mock bed for the patient in the insanity hospital ward) a t-shirt and karate pants (that work well in this case for inmate pants), a desk lamp and a deck of cards (so "Madeline," the main character, could play Solitaire while giving her monologue for the story), Janet Kuypers read this story to a live audience.

How can you best nourish your bod? Why does canola oil suck? Why are avocados great? We hit it all, and also talk about Garfield for a very very long time. Because why not.

Phil Miglioratti, IBSA Prayer Consultant talks with Pastor Phil Nelson about his journey carrying a cross through Chicago neighborhoods. Stories of people who came to faith, police stops, encountering school administrators, walking through the heart of Englewood (ground zero for shootings) even pastors who pulled alongside in their SUV. Dare to hear what God does when we get out of our seats to bring prayer and love to the streets.

Professor Jonathan Levy talked about the so-called "Great Recession" of 2007 to 2009, the worst financial crisis in the U.S. since the Great Depression in the 1930s. He traced the origins of the crisis to the late-1990s stock market boom-and-bust, and looked at how the housing market of the 2000s mimicked some of the same patterns. He also talked about some of the exotic financial instruments developed during this time, the practice of banks using overnight short-term credit markets...
