This is a pronoun die which I designed for my mother, an english teacher in France. It can be used in all sorts of language games to help children learn the different english pronouns. (I tried colouring the words using permanent marker, but the ink ran through the print grooves, which you can see in the photo)

In the present study we explored structural parallelism, the preference of hearers to connect an unaccented pronoun to a referent occupying the same syntactic position. The traditional linguistic approach is based on the fact that referential preferences are associated with specific linguistic properties of potential antecedents of pronouns. Discourse-coherent approach is based on a hearer`s coherence-driven expectations about discourse continuation and supposes a structural parallelism effect...

These magnetic pronoun pins are each made of four pieces, which can be hot glued together. Each pin has a diameter of 5.5 cm. To stay on, they use four to six neodymium magnets which are 6mm diameter, and 3mm tall. Currently, there are He/Him, She/Her, They/Them, He/She, He/They and She/They pronoun pin sets. For each pin, you need one Disk Front Side, one Disk Back Side, and two of the Clasp part. (note, they don't stay very well on anything thicker than a shirt or really thin jacket)

The acquisition of two types of anaphora, reflexive and non-reflexive personal pronouns, was investigated. It was hypothesized that the two types of anaphora are acquired at different developmental stages. The three experiments involved Dutch children of age 6 and 7 and adults. Interpretations of sentences containing third person reflexive pronouns, sentences containing non-reflexive third person pronouns, and series of randomly arranged sentences containing either type of pronoun were tested....

The predominant view of the binding facts of the Japanese reflexive "zibun" is that there are two types of uses; one is as a reflexive that is to be bound by the clause-mate subject, and the other is as the so-called "logophoric" pronoun. Accordingly, the binding theory of "zibun" along the lines of this view will take the form of disjunction: "zibun" is bound by a Noun Phrase (NP) if the NP is the clause-mate subject or it is a logophoric NP. In this...

This article focuses on the structural and semantic analysis of the sentences containing the pronoun "it" as a formal object. Although at first sight "it" seems to have no meaning whatsoever, it actually plays an important role in the semantic structure of the sentence. The formal object "it" changes the subcategorical meaning of a polyfunctional verb and frequently its semantics. "It" blocks up the objective valency of the verb, often changing its...

The communication of "person" has been a particularly elusive area of Japanese discourse. The elusive status of the person term (as distinguished from the Indo-European personal pronoun) raises the question of whether such terms, along with titles, kin terms, proper names, age-status terms, and zero forms, may all be part of a single system for differentiating self and other. Approaching the definition of person in the context of discourse eliminates some of the complexity of defining...

A study of 191 native English speaking working class children in grades two, four, and six was undertaken to investigate the development of reading comprehension of selected pronoun-referent structures. Three linguistic comparisons were made: referent type, reference order, and referent distance. Target sentences were constructed with these features and were embedded into short passages, each followed by questions based on the target structure. It was found that noun phrase pronominal...

The standard treatment of object pronouns in Latin American Spanish assigns a direct-object function to "lo" and "la" and an indirect-object function to "le." This study challenges this descriptive attribution in light of the contradictory and refractory evidence in Spanish morphosyntax. It is suggested that more detailed research, especially sociolinguistic research relating to Latin American Spanish, might approach the analysis differently. The forms of...
