Summary HMS Nelson (pennant number 28) was one of two Nelson-class battleships built for the Royal Navy between the two World Wars. She was named in honour of Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson the victor at the Battle of Trafalgar. The Nelsons were unique in British battleship construction, being the only ships to carry a main armament of 16-inch (406 mm) guns, and the only ones to carry all the main armament forward of the superstructure. These were a result of the limitations of the...

Summary The two ships participated in Operation Weserübung, the German invasion of Norway. During operations off Norway, the two ships engaged the battlecruiser HMS Renown and sank the aircraft carrier HMS Glorious on 8 June 1940. In the engagement with Glorious, Scharnhorst achieved one of the longest-range naval gunfire hits in history. In early 1942, the two ships made a daylight dash up the English Channel from occupied France to Germany. (wikipedia)

Kind of a weird film made by 20th Century Fox for the OWI. Shows simulated aerial bombardment of an American town, in a "don't act like an ass and your town won't be bombed" sort of way. National Archives description: "Compares the 'war records' of community-minded women on the home front with those of selfish women who refuse to assist the war effort. Some roll bandages, aid in nursery school operation, hostess at U.S.O. dances, and knit sweaters for servicemen. Other women...

20th Century Fox made this short film for the US Treasury Department (to promote the sale of war bonds). A lot of stars are featured in its 18 minutes, including tap-dancing Betty Grable. As always, any error or typo is mine and if you enjoy my uploads or if you intend to make $ or otherwise profit from these files, please consider making a donation to a veteran's charity of your choice and/or Archive.org itself. Thanks. :)
