Climate change is influencing tree phenology, causing earlier and more prolonged canopy closure in temperate forests. Canopy closure is closely associated with understorey light, so shifts in its timing have wide-reaching consequences for ecological processes in the understorey. Widespread monitoring of forest canopies through time is needed to understand changes in light availability during spring in particular. Canopy openness, derived from hemispherical photography, has frequently been used...

Climate change and increasing natural disasters coupled with years of deferred maintenance have added pressure to infrastructure in urban areas. Thus, monitoring for failure of these systems is crucial to prevent future impacts to life and property. Participatory assessment technique for infrastructure provides a community-based approach to assess the capacity and physical condition of infrastructure. Furthermore, a participatory assessment technique for infrastructure can encourage grassroots...

Climate change is one of the strongest biodiversity threats. Worse still, the impact of multiple anthropic stressors on species dynamics could complicate adaptation to temperature increase. International conservation policies aim to protect ecosystems against anthropic pressures, but their ability to facilitate adaptation to climate change has yet to be assessed. Using wetland bird monitoring surveys, we evaluated the differences at the country scale of community adjustment to temperature...

Somewhat parametric, kinematic mirror/lens mount for steering optics. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirror_mount It contains a living hinge in one corner and two magnets in the adjacent corners. These magnets are attracted to a pair of set screws used to adjust the mirror angle. The size of the magnets match those in the makerbot platform. There are both imperial and metric mounting versions. Imperial uses a 1/4" hole, while metric uses a 6mm hole to match the optical benches. Alternatively...

These simple discs keep insects from hacking my airRohr. :) You want to print two of them. They should be a tight fit and hold without glue. If they don't quite fit your contraption, you can scale the STL in your slicer or edit the included OpenSCAD file. I had to cut two ribs on one side for the power cable and the air hose.
