As Control Flow Integrity (CFI) enforcement solutions are widely adapted by major applications, traditional memory vulnerability exploitation techniques aiming to hijack the control flow have become increasingly difficult. For example, Microsoft’s Control Flow Guard (CFG) is an effective CFI solution against traditional memory exploits. However, due to the CFG implementation limitations, we have seen new exploitation techniques such as using the unprotected ret instruction to bypass CFG. We...

What do the Dallas tornado siren attack, hacked electric skateboards, and insecure smart door locks have in common? Vulnerable wireless protocols. Exploitation of wireless devices is growing increasingly common, thanks to the proliferation of RF protocols driven by mobile and IoT. While non-Wi-Fi and non-Bluetooth RF protocols remain a mystery to many security practitioners, exploiting them is easier than one might think. Join us as we walk through the fundamentals of radio exploitation. After...

A brief, unholy meditation on '70s-'80s era nunsploitation. Leave it to the Italian/Spanish/Mexican cinema to transmute Catholic guilt into sexual fetishism involving naughty nuns, masochism, sadism, whipping and lesbianism. (That's a lot of -isms.) As part of my study on the history of cinema fetishism, here are four typically over-the-top scenes from some nunsploitation films. These are: (1) Satánico Pandemonium (Mexico, 1975) (2) The Sinful Nuns of Saint Valentine (Italy, 1974) (3) Images...

Taking a break from gory slashers and half naked women, we travel to the land down under to explore the 1971 ozploitation film, Wake in Fright. Wake in Fright is heralded as a champion of the Australian new wave movement and was nominated for a Golden Palm Award at the 1971 Cannes Film Festival. Spoiler alert, duh. We highly recommend watching this film before listening to the podcast. Why? Because it's a good film.

Pecola Breedlove is the protagonist in Toni Morrison's first novel, "The Bluest Eye," which explores the standards of beauty held by a young African American girl. Despite her efforts to find acceptance and love in her community, Pecola finds herself despised within her own race. As a result of Claudia's voice, it is clear that Pecola yearns for feminine beauty such as a light complexion, blonde hair, and blue eyes, all of which are highly admired in American society. This paper is an attempt to depict the demolition of nature due to the Second World War. Nature takes an integral part in the lives of people. The paper, by using the drama waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett, illustrator how the unavoidable relationship between man nature are fragmental during the Modern Era. In this paper I have tried to show Beckett’s duality in representing nature through Vladimir and Estragon; Firstly, it reveals the exploitation of nature, and secondly, it precariously...

This paper discusses Chinua Achebe’s attempt to confront the historical and spiritual roots of Africa's crisis. The author, one of Africa's greatest intellectual giants was consistent in courageously criticizing the misrule on the continent for decades, stances which put his life at risk and forced him to flee his native country. His great disappointment manifests itself in his last and latest book “There was a Country-A personal History of Biafra”....

In this postmodern world of consumerism and capitalist culture, food is an essential instrument of power. It is one of the basic amenities, and this inevitable nature makes it most powerful. On one hand, it controls, and on the other, it cajoles. Palpably, it is used as a bait to allure the needy. Somehow want of food leads to victimization, exploitation, and subordination in the struggle of power. The proposed paper, titled, “Bait and Victim: A Study of Food in Hansel and...

Divisions among human beings are so innate and inherent that they could not get rid of that divisive factor even at this age of knowledge revolution. Human psyche craves to master, rule, oppress and assert its authority over others and this is the major reason for oppression in all levels, in the name of caste, creed, race, gender, etc. This innate desire to overpower is discernible through the intra caste conflicts among the marginalized communities also.
