I modified this staff model to make a light up version of it. Plus added some connector bits you can glue in between the long parts. Everything is glued together, except the top 2 pieces, which slide onto the battery/button holder and are kept there with a pressure fit. I separated the crystal from the head, so I could print it in a different translucent filament. I had to pause the head print at about 75% through to glue the crystal in there. I printed the crystal at 100% infill to get more...

The original Gandalf bust was not manifold so I fixed the holes in the model. I also thought the base should be a little taller or not there at all, so I decided not there at all and sliced off the base completely. I have seen the makes that are covered in tree supports. If you use Cura and select make overhangs printable this model prints with no supports just fine. I used 70 degrees for my overhang angle. I took jamundsen's design and hollowed it out -- so that you can fit it over a 1" wide copper pipe, drop a light in the middle and wire it up. I built a battery case for the bottom that holds 8 AA batteries, and bought a bulb from superbrightleds.com.

I found the generic sword a bit boring so I converted a model of Glamdring by babo lee (https://grabcad.com/library/glamdring-1) for minifig. Altered the proportions quite a bit and simplified the model. Made 3 pieces as it won't fit my printer as one piece.

so im making a gandalf the ginger costume for the upcoming release. and i optimised this for printing on my machine with a shorter build height, also seperated the crystal out as im going to print that in clear filament and put some LEDs inside it. so far the pieces are printing great with 2 layer walls and no infill, fantastic model mate.

This is my most complex automaton. Gandalf stands off the Balrog at the Bridge of Khazad Dum. The great paint job is by my friend Stormy. (eg:cloak claps,sword,cloak,full body model) You may want to change the scale to fit your printer.
