When considering cities such as Lisbon, which due to their Köppen Geiger classification of ‘Csa’, witness hot and dry summers, the translation of local bottom-up knowhow upon climatic guidelines has been a topic of considerable dissemination over recent years. Depicting upon a concrete case study located in Lisbon's historical quarter, the results from a previous bioclimatic study undertaken by the authors were taken further in order to consider how worst-case-scenarios of climate change...

Exhibition Photos Notes THURSDAY NOVEMBER 7, 1985 - SUNDAY DECEMBER 1, 1985 In response to the controversy surrounding Richard Serra's Tilted Arc, Storefront invited 29 artists and critics to address the issue of public art in relation to the Federal Plaza site. The exhibition was an attempt to bridge the gap between the intellectual elite and the public, as well as to constructively reframe the debate surrounding the sculpture. While the highly emotional public debate focused on whether the...

Ours is an exploratory and descriptive field research, using bibliographic research and semi-structured interviews, aiming to discuss how the occupations "A Vida é uma Festa" and "O Circo Tá na Rua" in the Historic Center of São Luís contribute to the revitalization, democratization, preservation, and valorization of the heritage of the city. During a Shaping San Francisco Public Talk on Storytelling and Memory Keepers, artist Susan Schwartzenberg describes the development and creation of "Philosophers Way," a meandering circular path that integrates older paths around McLaren Park into a new circumnavigation of the whole park. Elegant marble plaques quoting historic events, musings, and set in under-appreciated view spots, highlight the tour.

Crowd Sourcing flickr images to create 3D files. This is a working proof of concept. Long story short... I didn't go to Washington DC to 3D scan the Lincoln Memorial. Instead, I scanned flickr for all related images to "Lincoln Memorial statue" and downloaded the originals. By uploading it to 123d catch, I was able to receive a 3D model of Abraham Lincoln's Face.

Efforts to integrate history and ecological restoration can be found tucked away in most San Francisco neighborhoods. Neighborhood greenways and corridors are most often the result of initial community-based activism to beautify an urban space, and end up becoming much more complex projects. Sophie Constantinou shares stories of creating the Buchanan Street Mall project and a newly accessible open space along the Bernal Cut, and how the different neighborhoods shaped these similar projects....
