This voice recording made by Mumia Abu-Jamal was played during the United National Peace Conference in Albany, NY, July 24, 2010. Mumia, a death-row inmate since 1982, was unjustly convicted in 1982 in Philadelphia of murdering a police officer. His fight for justice and a new trial is supported widely and internationally. I also intend to prove that social justice can be taught as young as pre-kindergarten. I will design a social justice curriculum for various grade levels, beginning with pre-kindergarten. Through research and age-appropriate strategies, I will develop curriculum goals and learning experiences for all grade...

Albany has been tense in recent weeks as the city deals with a case of police brutality and community rallies for greater awareness. In the midst of this came a town hall meeting on gun violence at the North Albany YMCA, to which the mayor and police chief refused to come. WOOC was there and at subsequent street rallies to get the mood of the city.
