HERE WE GO AGAIN!
The month of September has started off with a series of
L.I.T.S. (Lights In The Sky) reports from across the East
Midlands. Early sightings came from the Ashbourne area (yet
again), Chesterfield, Nottingham and a "Flying Triangle" report
from Sutton-1n-Ashfleld, Notts. A mysterious bang, which
rattled house windows was heard In the Matlock area at about
9.30pm on the night of the 8th September.
A "cross shape" of bright lights was spotted by two girl
students over Nottingham. "There were two bright lights In a
cross shape, a bit like a plane, but we could see It wasn't a
plane because It was stationary." "Then It suddenly flew off".
Marie Cooper (19) and Laura W11son-Dutton (20) telephone East
Midlands Airport and were told that there had not been any
flights In the area at the time.
Another witness Mr Keith Rowland, saw two bright lights moving
across the sky over Ilkeston at 8.53pm on the night of the 8th
of September. Shortly afterwards he saw another light, this
time bright red, moving quickly across the sky In a Northerly
dlrecti on.
The most Interesting report came from a Mr A.E. of Sutton-1n-
Ashfleld, Nottinghamshire, on the night of the 2nd September.
MR A.E.had just returned home from work at 10.05pm. It was
shortly afterwards at 1015pm that his attention was attracted
by a bright light about 8 miles away.
The light was heading slowly In his direction and Mr A.E.
decided to fetch his binoculars In order to have a closer look
at the unusual light. He was able to distinguish that the
Intense white light was actually positioned on the corner of a
large triangular shape "half the size of a football field." He
was able to study the triangular craft for about three minutes
as It flew slowly past his house In a Westerly direction.
Mr A.E. commented that none of the lights were flashing,
(similar to an aircraft's 'strobe' lights) and he Identified a
pattern of coloured lights (as shown In the sketch overleaf).
As the object "glided over" he heard a sound "like the wind
blowing". He estimated the height of the craft, which he could
see clearly, at about 5,000ft. It was then lost from sight as
It slowly glided away.

The "Flying Triangle" seen by the witness at Sutton-1n-Ashfleid
Is very similar to that of a Japanese witness Mr Satoshl
Chlyojlma In January of this year. This report has been fully
covered In the OVNI of July 1994 and basically tells of a
Japanese businessman driving to work, when he spotted a small
white light moving In the South. The light stopped and made '
several acute right-angle turns.
Mr Chlyojlma slowed down his car, the distant lights quickened
their speed and overtook the car, bathing It In a bright white
light. The witness accelerated his car and succeeded In
getting away from the glowing light. He confirmed later, that
when the light had been overhead, he had been able to make out
a distinct triangular shape.

ANOTHER CROP CIRCLE 'SEASON' COMES TO AN END
As another Crop Circle 'season' comes to an end, we are
fortunate In being able to reprint a number of photographs
taken by that well known aerial photographer 'Busty' Taylor.
Whatever the cause of these circles, the perpetrators are quite
artistic. The Key to the photographs shown on pages 4 & 5 Is
given at the bottom of this page.
Not to be outdone , two members of the PRA Claire and Tony
Upton have succeeded In having a number of their photographs
reproduced In the Japanese 'MU' magazine. This magazine Is
well known In Japan and Is about to celebrate fifteen years of
publication. Claire and Tony's photographs (which have
previously appeared In OVNI) are shown on page 6 of this Issue.
We recognise that Crop Circles not only appear In Britain but
In other countries throughout the world.
We are Indebted to PRA member Ken Potts for sending us a copy
of "BILL KNELL'S UFO NEWSLETTER" (USA) In which there are two
Crop Circle photographs shown. One from Canada and one from
the USA. One headline ran:-
WEIRD WHEATFI ELD DESIGN FASCINATES OBSERVERS, BUT FARM'S OWNERS
ARE UNIMPRESSED. A bizarre pattern In a Malden Township,
Ontario (Canada) wheatfleld did not Impress farmers Darwin and
Gerry Wlsmer. The Crop Circle pattern which consists of two
double circles with a large 2.5m wide central channel joining
the two, also has a series of "T's" and curves along Its
length. The Wlsmer's who own the farm stated "Looks like we've
lost a few bushels of wheat."
OREGON CROP CIRCLE SPURS TRAFFIC SNARL This was the other
headline which accompanied the story of a large circle, with an
outer trench and four satellite circles with linking trenches
(although these may have been caused by sightseers).
Patterns were cut Into a wheatfleld 10 miles west of Portland,
Oregon, have steadily drawn spectators, since they appeared 10
days ago. over the weekend, sheriff's deputies had to direct
traffic as hundreds of onlookers descended on the mysterious
scene.

THE EVENING SKY
September 1994
The first evenings of autumn offer open,
clear skies which are ideal for observing
the splendour of the heavens. The sky
haze, the oppressive humidity, the nasty
biting insects and the foliage of many
plants, especially trees are all swept away
by the prevailing cool autumn breeze.
Autumn is my favourite season. A
season of change, of sharp visual images
and long shadows. You can smell
autumn in the air filling the beautiful
days and nights with the fragrance of
Mother nature. You can literally smell
the Earth.
Over seven thousand artificial satellites
currently orbit the Earth and some three
hundred of these are visible to the naked
eye. Many can be seen from the UK in
autumn. Once your eyes are accustomed
to the dark you may observe a fast
moving point of light travelling through
the star fields of the night. These
celestial dots are satellites illuminated by
sunlight. When they suddenly
disappear, the satellites have moved into
the Earth's shadow and are no longer
visible.
The close encounter between Venus and
Jupiter continues in the south western
sky. On the night of the 8th the crescent
Moon passes Venus and on the
following night, passes Jupiter.
Mercury and the Virgo star Spicia make a
low apparition again in the south west
on the evening of the 20th.
The Soviet (ocean-reconnaissance) satellite
Cosmos 1220 is visible to the naked eye
orbiting above the Earth at 500 miles
The distant planet Saturn is visible all
night throughout the month from dusk
to dawn in the w atery southern sky. At
twilight this cold, distant, lonely world
stands stunningly alone, the last planet
out from the Sun visible to the naked eye
at some eight hundred million miles
distance. The ancients named the last
day of the week after the last planet -
‘Saturn's day’ (Saturday).
Detailed information from the Shoemaker
/Levy impact on Jupiter will soon be
available. Much intelligence has been
gathered and the first analysis and
interpretation of data will take several
months to complete. When I receive
results from the Planetary Society I will
pass all the relevant details to you.
The autumn equinox occurs on
September 23rd marking the beginning
of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere.
A voluptuous, full Harvest Moon rises in
the dusk on September 19th. The full
Harvest Moon low in the sky, is an
awesome, inspiring sight!
Enjoy Your Evening Sky!

MYSTERIOUS LIGHTS OVER MATLOCK
A series of L.I.T.S. over Crlch, Matlock on the nights of the
23rd and 24th of August were reported by a number of witnesses.
One first-hand witness (Miss CR) has given details and drawings
of what took place:-
At about 9.30pm on Tuesday 23rd of August, as I was watching TV:
In the lounge, a bright light caught my eye and I thought that
It seemed very bright for a star. I went upstairs to have a
look, from an upstairs window, but couldn't see anything.
About 2 hours later, I went to bed (I sleep with my window
open). I had just got Into bed when a strange whining sound
drew me to the window. Immediately I saw again what I had seen
earlier. Only this time there were two bright white lights In
the sky. They were quite high up, one larger and one smaller
positioned to the right of Crlch Stand.
As I watched, the smaller of the two shot across the sky
quickly, then more slowly It made Its way across the top of the
ridge over the village, back past the the larger one and went
off In a north-westerly direction. The larger one of the two
remained stationary. I went In to get my parents to come and
have a look at It, but we couldn't decide whether or not It was
a star. (Miss CR decided to look out the following night).
On Wednesday 24th August 94, I waited until to dark to see If
what I had seen the previous night was a star. As soon as It
was dark, I Immediately saw a large bright white light In the
sky (this time It was more directly overhead and a little
higher up), It had at least one or two smaller lights below and
either side of It. I fetched my sister and parents and we
watched It moving around, hovering, sometimes ascending or
descending at high speed and moving In unusual directions on
diagonal lines (unlike an aeroplane).
We watched the objects for about two hours, sometimes they
disappeared for a few minutes, then re-appeared, (at one point
a faint whirring noise was heard).

TALE ENDERS
UFO ACTIVITY is on the increase, as apart from the typical
report from Crich, the Newark Advertiser carried a report of a
"jelly-fish" type UFO seen over Newark in its September 2nd
issue. Mr Smith of Tuxford said "it was unbelievable. It was a
round circle with green and yellow lights round It. The inside
was like a jellyfish." (Newspaper cutting from Tony Caldicott)
£20 REWARD for the first person to contact the Editor on the
whereabouts of a red turbo-diesel BMW registration M254 RRE.
Last seen in the Derby area 25th August. Owned by an Irish
"travel 1er".
UK NATIONAL UFO AWARENESS DAY SATURDAY OCTOBER 1st. 1994.
Organised by the Alien Acknowledgement campaign, the idea is to
draw attention to the UFO issue by a nation-wide presentation
of the evidence.
THE LEEDS 1994 UFO CONFERENCE (Saturday 24th September)has sold
all its tickets! No wonder, with special guest BOB DEAN
appearing. Last time he "blew the gaff" on NATO's
investigation into UFO's and the resulting TOP SECRET report.
CUFORN (Canadian UFO Network) have informed us that the implant
section tested by Toronto University (OVNI August issue) was a
section of the ear and not a metal implant. It was thought that
the examination procedure may have damaged the metal structure.
The small metal item is still awaiting testing, which is
believed to be held up because of the costs involved.
CCCS East Midlands report that a Mr Wilson (86) recollects that
when he was 16 years old (i.e. 1 924) he worked on a farm in
Syston, Leicester. When a field of Oats was being harvested, a
circle was found with six foxes sitting in it (Source: Tony
Caldicott).
IUFOPRA The Irish UFO study group, were recently involved in a
National Broadcasting Service RTE chat programme with a Mr
Michael Holmes. They claim that they were 'set up', as the
recorded programme was slanted as a joke on the Irish
investigators.(It's often better to go '1ive'..Ed.).
MANSFIELD UFO GROUP has come back to life after being in
'troubled waters' recently and requested an exchange of
magazines and information. Extracts from their MUFOG magazine
will be carried in our next issue.
NEXT MEETING
A meeting will be held at the Stanley Club, Stanley Common at
8pm on the night of September 27th. A feature length film, on
video and revealing the real truth of a well known UFO crash
incident will be shown during the evening.
Non-members welcome. Fee for evening £1
