Medical Area (LMA). The information 
in this brochure will enable you to 
choose the means of transportation 
which best suits your needs. 

Ride-sharing 

Carpooling 

MASCO offers a computerized car- 
pool matching service called Ride Relief 
for employees of LMA institutions. For 
information call 732-2384. 

CARAVAN for Commuters, Inc. 
manages the state-wide carpooling pro- 
gram. For information call 742-2655. 

There is no charge for the above car- 
pool services. 

Vanpooling 

MASCO has arranged with CARA- 
VAN to coordinate vanpooling service 
for LMA employees. Vanpools provide 
comfortable, cost-effective transporta- 
tion for groups of 12 to 15 people. Van- 
pools formed to and from the LMA may 
qualify for free parking at the Servicen- 
ter Garage on Francis Street. For 
information call 742-2655.

Public Transit - MBTA Service \T) 

The Massachusetts Bay Transporta- 
tion Authority operates an extensive 
network of subway and surface routes 
in the metropolitan Boston area as well 
as a commuter rail system which serves 
outljdng areas. Listed below are MBTA 
lines which serve the LMA. 

Green Line 

• D Riverside - Lechmere 

via Newton, Brookline, Back Bay, 
Downtown Boston. 
LMA stop: Longwood. 

• E Arborway - Park Street 
via Jamaica Plain, Back Bay, 
Downtown Boston. LMA stops: 
Longwood/Hospitals or Brigham 
Circle.

Boston City Hospital to Central 
Square, Cambridge, via Dudley 
Station. LMA stops are located 
along Longwood Avenue and 
Brookline Avenue. 
Chestnut Hill to Kenmore Square 
via Brookline Village. LMA stops

Avenue. 

Brighton Center to Kenmore 
Square via Brookline Village. 
LMA stops are located along 
Brookline Avenue.

Station, via Coolidge Comer,

Connections from these lines may be 
made to other parts of the system. 

The MBTA offers a monthly prepaid 
pass program that can significantly 
reduce commuting costs. Participants 
in this program may be eligible for a 10 
percent discount on automobile insur- 
ance. For further information, call the 
MBTA Pass Program at the number

MASCO Shuttle Service 

Westbrook Shuttle: connects 
the LMA with a park-and-ride 
facility at the intersection of 
Independence Drive and VFW 
Parkway in West Roxbury. 
Cambridge Shuttle: connects 
Harvard (Quincy) Square and 
MIT in Cambridge with Har- 
vard Medical School (Vander- 
bilt Hall) in the LMA.

Commuter Hotline 

The Commonwealth of Massachu- 
setts, in conjunction with CARAVAN 
for Commuters, Inc., sponsors a 
Commuter Hotline. This service assists 
people in planning their commute by 
providing information about state-wide- 
transportation options. The Hotline
