Liberatarians
Adopt ‘Plank’

The Libertarian Party’s na-
tional convention in San Fran-
cisco adopted a ‘‘plank” for
children’s rights, condemned
the activities of Anita Bryant
“and those who emit an air of
hatred” and opposed the man-
datory payment into the Social
Security system.

Local people who attended
the convention were Don
Atkinson, regional chairman
from Santa Cruz; Bill Anderson
of Capitola, and Kathy Merrick
of Aptos.

The party, whose position is
for individual rights and less
government, adopted the posi-
tion in the convention it is
unfair for government workers
to be able to ‘‘opt out” of the
Social Security system while
private workers may not.

The local Libertarian Party
Office is at 2046 N. Pacific Ave.,
telephone 429-1822.

Help For
Felton
Bridges

The replacement of three
bridges and the widening of two
brid, between Felton and
Ben ond along Highway 9 is
on the mind of the California
Department of Transportation
(CALTRANS).

In_ five or six years,
CALTRANS is proposing to re-
place Ben Lomond's two twin
bridges and the Fall Creek
bridge, and to widen the two
Brackney bridges north of
Felton, CALTRANS Informa-
tion Officer Robert Halligan
said.

In the meantime,
CALTRANS is proposing a re- Seotts Valley
